Eligibility Qualifications

...For the Student

Sophomores who meet the following criteria are eligible to audition for GSA. The students must

Auditions and portfolio reviews will be held at South Charleston High School January 19 (and the evening of the 18th) for the students who live in the southern and south central parts of the state RESAs I-IV). They are scheduled for January 26 and the evening of the 25th at East Fairmont High for the northern counties (RESAs V-VIII).

By December 19, letters will be mailed to notify students of the specific time for the audition/portfolio review. If you submit an application and are not notified of your audition date by December 26, contact Mrs. Sherry Keffer, skeffer@wvosea.org for assistance.  Do not wait until after December 30!!! No student will be accepted to the School for the Arts without an audition/review.

There may be circumstances that preclude a student's auditioning on the date scheduled for his/her geographic area. In that case, the student should note on the application that he/she needs to be scheduled for the other weekend.

 

...For the Faculty

 

....Faculty are expected to be accomplished artists in their own rights. The must exhibit talent, creativity, motivation skills, have a record of a strong work ethic and teaching experience. Faculty members must be willing to be willing to participate in a living-learning situation which includes evenings and weekends. Faculty salary: $4,000

 

...For the Residential Staff

Interns, resident director and resident assistants

  Must have completed two years of college study prior to the beginning of the program. As a member of the residential staff, the employee shall mentor students and assist faculty as  required;shall plan recreational activities and  travel for small groups;shall provide a communications link  between the students and faculty; shall serve as role models for GSA  participants. The resident director works cooperatively with the dean to arrange student activities. He/she is the supervisor of the resident staff. RA salary: $1500.   RD salary: $3,000.
