Eligibility Qualifications

Sophomores who meet the following criteria are eligible to audition for GSA. The students must

Exhibit a strong commitment to their personal development as artists.
Attend school in West Virginia this year with plans to be here next year. Students who attend public or private schools as well as those who are home schooled are included.
Be a resident of West Virginia.
Have a 2.5 average during freshman year. Students not having a 2.5 but ranking in the top half their of class academically are also eligible. Students who are on the cusp of meeting the requirement may qualify by bringing the cumultive GPA up to 2.5 after three semesters. If first semester 2011-2012 grades are not available by January 20, you may have them sent separately but no later than February 1. If your ninth-grade GPA is 2.5 or higher, please do not send an additional transcript.
Have an acceptable attendance and discipline record.
Be recommended by the school principal.

Interns, resident director and resident assistants

Must have completed two years of college prior to the beginning of the program (been out of high school for a full two years). RA's must have been graduated from high school NO LATER THAN 2010. As a member of the residential staff, the employee shall mentor students and assist faculty as required; shall plan recreational activities and travel for small groups; shall provide a communications link between the students and faculty; shall serve as role models for GSA participants. The resident director works cooperatively with the dean to arrange student activities. He/she is the supervisor of the resident staff. RA salary: $1500. RD salary: $4,000.
